Introduction to Tracy Lannon
Tracy didn’t have many examples of her work because a lot them she didn’t have it anymore or they weren’t allowed to be show, however she did talk us thought her life and her life a designer.
She started in the 70's and how her family have a lot o black and white photographs, not because colour photo wasn’t around then but because her dad was a photographer and used their bathroom as a dark room to develop Polaroid photos. I myself have a polaroid camera, its more advanced technologically compared to old polaroid cameras as you don’t need to develop them in a dark room instead they just appear in time after printing.
When Tracy started as a graphic designer she was doing more industrial graphic work like brochures and leaflets for councils, she was going all this on traditional drawing boards by hand. She had to prepare photos for print a lot of the time.
The first thing she showed u was a series of stickers she created for Triak.co.uk, she had drew thee characters in different scenarios and made them into stickers.
People like ken garland and Neville Brody were big influences back then, Tracy didn’t go to art school and instead learned by going straight into a job. After working in industry for a wile she went to Huddersfield University to study phycology, sociology and philosophy studying the way memory and identity works.
Then she went back into industry again and this was when she had finished university ad the world had started to go digital so she worked at Hallmark making the Christmas collection and also designing shoe soles for aAdidas and puma.
She then went on to teach at university and focused on design and emotion making it more user focused.
