Self Reflection on the "conversation" Brief
What was the most important thing you learned while doing this project?
My project started off really well. I had a solid research base and some ideas and that spanned off into a solid idea, I then thought I had a solid finished design for my final piece but I realised it wasn’t good enough and it portrayed the message I wanted but not to the right audience. I learned to be more self-critical and don’t settle for something that is 'ok'. It was only a few days before my assessment that I looked at m pieces and realised that they didn’t work, this didn’t give me much time, I defiantly learned that I need to be more self critical and if the work doesn’t work, move on, don’t try and think that it works in order to be finished early.
What would you have done differently?
The brief wanted us to experiment with various materials and processes. I did various digital techniques but because I was so rushed at the end I dint think about this and therefore I only used digital techniques and I am concerned this could limit my mark. If I could go back I would have don’t my research quicker and started experimenting as soon as possible, however I would not have comprised with my quality of research as this is what has give me a really strong concept.
What was the best part of your project?
The best part of my project was the idea and concept behind it based o my research. Initially I was stuck with research and didn’t know where to go however, after speaking to a tutor on one of the first studio days I was told to not tick to one thing and to go on a tangent, research what I want to research and I came out with so may outcomes and angles for the brief that really worked to my advantage.
In this project, how well do you think you communicated your ideas and their progression in your Book?
The way I structured my research and the way each idea flows into the next works really well. It’s all structured in a way that makes sense and the layout and design is also really aesthetically pleasing. The way I have communicated my idea through my book is really good I think, one of my best yet, however the final designs are still causing me trouble, however I will get there.
