Territory Workshop (Extra Work)
Territory are a international companies covering al areas of graphic design, started in London, territory studios are not opening two new locations in new york and san Francisco. Although they cover everything from place interior design to branding they have become most well known for their graphics in huge Hollywood films such as iron man, the Martian and many other sci-fi films, creating graphics displaying digital and futuristic interfaces.
Below is a series of graphics made by territory for the avengers film, here are my favourite of their work, showing iron mans suit in modification and on screen. This is a completely different type of design that I have never thought about before, but the holographic nature of this really stands out to me and I would love to give it a go, this is why I signed up for this workshop....
In the workshop we started by going into groups and analysing different scripts for films worked on by territory, there was a choice of avengers, Prometheus EX magna and agent 47 which is the one I had, this was a film we hadn’t heard of before but the idea was that a scientist had found a way of creating a genetically modified super spy and then retreated into hiding where no one was aware of where he was, the people working on his research were trying to locate him, so they use databases for passports, cctv cameras and ATM machines, personal information databases to try and rack down the scientist responsible. We were given the script so we could find the story line and tell this through the graphics, due to this we decided to make a interactive graphic that would have a map of the world which then had data around the outside, with features to scan through face recognition, locations, personal data etc. I haven’t worked in a group to create a final outcome properly before, initially this was a hard task, getting everyone to understand a concept and then design it in the same way was difficult but to overcome this we picked a colour pallet a font and a light weight and got to work on the parts were assigned. I volunteered to do the photo and cctv recognition. I picked this because I had thought of some interesting things I could do. I did a full page of data as shown below. However through the project the idea seemed to have changed. I understood that we would all do a page that would appear through using the interactive main page however towards the end people had all made smaller parts to be placed on the main page. Because we had a limited time scale, my page was not ready in time to be animated, however we did make this animation from it...
I was very happy with this, the way it was animated was very professional and smooth, I’m also happy that we picked the red colour scheme rather than the blue as we though the blue was too cliché and red may make it more unique as well as going with the scheme of the film. We managed to get the story of what was happening into the graphic and given more time we could create a whole interactive map with different pages and screens shown working in an animation. Because of this I want to take my graphic and animate it because I was happy with the outcome, but was cut short due to time.
