Unfortunately, the Ottoman Empire sided with Germany in the First World War
At the end of that war (1918), this area was divided up…..
2nd World War occurred.
After the Holocaust lands were re-drawn…..
Israel was ‘created’ from parts of Palestine
This is where the Israeli / Arab ‘conflict’ arises from.
Compounding the Problem……
The Arab states (around Israel) went to the Soviet Union (Russia) for weapons.
USA (anti-communist) backed Israel.
Not because they supported Israel, but they were anti communist!
Oil issues
The World runs on oil.
Virtually all transport is oil based
All products have been “touched” by oil.
In 1950, the middle east (via Oil) was important
Oil – refined – is a convenient way to store and carry energy
Oil reserve issues – not as clear how much is actually left!

In your lifetime – around age 35 – 40 yrs (ie in the middle of your career)
this problem will have a big effect.
This is aside form any environmental concerns there may be!
We need to understand the potential solutions.
